About

Works With Water is the first and only theater company in the United States of America dedicated to underwater puppetry.  With the support of The Theater Communication Group Global Initiatives Grant, Cheryl Henson and The New 42nd St. Studios/Labworks Residency, Artistic Director Kathleen Doyle worked with Thang Long National Water Puppetry Theater in Hanoi, Vietnam where she studied the thousand year old Vietnamese art form.  Through years of trial and error in her studio, as well a swimming, diving, and snorkeling in myriad bodies of expressive or elemental water, Doyle created a company dedicated to her own take on underwater puppetry.  'Little Big Eye' - originally produced by Honolulu Theatre For Youth and The American Museum of Natural History Milstein Hall of Ocean Life, and supported by The Puffin Foundation, The Theatre Communications Group Global Connections Grants and The Mermaid Theatre of Nova Scotia - is the premiere production by Works With Water.  Little Big Eye created a ripple effect at Puppet Showplace Theater in Boston, Massachusetts with seventeen sold-out shows and splashy reviews.
